We use Amazon Cloud Drive to back up several terrabytes of focus group video recordings. That's the main thing we back up, but also some smaller files and documents.
  • As far as we know, it's the best value. Our current plan is for something like 4-5 terabytes.
  • Good interface both on the website and on the app.
  • They recently did some kind of update that changed it from Amazon Cloud Drive to Amazon Photos, which made things a bit confusing. Still unsure sometimes where to go or what app to open.
  • I wouldn't mind more robust functionality in terms of pausing uploads or seeing which individual files are uploaded and potentially duplicates of files that have already been uploaded.
It's good for backing up massive amounts of data for a reasonable cost.

  • Positive - has done exactly what we need it to do: back up massive amounts of files with relatively easy retrieval.
Actually I think both Box and Dropbox are easier to use and have better features for sharing files, especially if you need password security on those files, but Amazon is better for storing tons of data. Box and Dropbox are much more expensive to store a lot of files.

I started using Amazon Cloud Drive in 2008. At that time it was becoming a fashionable cloud storage service and there was also talk of Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, and Megaupload among others. All of these were competing to offer free storage space and some offered more than others. Amazon made Amazon Cloud Drive available with 5 GB free, and it is still that way, only that they have focused on the storage of images as well. In 2008 I decided to try it and to this day the I keep using it. I really use it as a reliable data backup.
  • It is very simple to use.
  • It is accessible from any device connected to the internet.
  • It has the support of Amazon.
  • Expand the space for free users.
  • It should include the option to edit files in the cloud.
If you want a discreet and safe place to store information, Amazon Cloud Drive is the solution.

If you want to share, exchange or edit as a team, there are better options in the market.

  • Being free, everything ACD gives is profit. In this service, I have saved files for years and I find the storage very complete and secure. I think it is possible to earn even more if other services are included in the cloud, such as Microsoft Office 360 does it with OneDrive.
ACD has lagged behind its competition. I would like to see more space and more features. Its main strength is the Amazon support.
It is safe but has little added value.
Because Amazon Cloud Drive is very easy to use.

We are a company that works with musical events and provide services to perform weddings, celebrate birthdays, etc. For us the photographs, videos, and audio are indispensable. Many times we have to store templates of all kinds and we need space. We do not use PenDrives, or anything like that. Our biggest tool is the Cloud. Amazon Drive Cloud is used by our Marketing and Communications department to store different files. After a day of work, we keep all the photographs, videos and audios that we recorded and then edit them and return them to the client as a token of gratitude for having hired us.

This program helps us store information. It really is a compliment, because we use several programs, from different companies, to store data and, until now, Amazon Drive Cloud has served us well.
  • Amazon Drive Cloud is free and that is positive. It gives us 5GB of storage when we register
  • The application for smartphones is very useful because you can do what you do when you connect from the web browser
  • Amazon Drive gives you 5 GB of storage, which compared to other companies that give you 15GB, is not flashy. I think they should increase the storage capacity to a minimum of 15Gb so they can compete.
  • Amazon Drive Cloud competitors have additional text editing services, spreadsheets, online web presentation editor, among others, and this program only offers you storage. I think they should think of a strategy to become more attractive and beat the competition.
An excellent scenario for Amazon Drive Cloud is one where the main customer will only need to store a little information in the cloud for free. Many times we run out of space and do not want to pay for a larger storage capacity, and that's where Amazon Drive Cloud has strength because it's a free service, which gives you 5GB.

Now, Amazon Drive Cloud is not very well known and that decreases its potential. We do not recommend this software to store large amounts of information, especially videos and audio because sure 5GB will not be enough.

  • It is a program that helps us complement our lack of space to store information.
  • It helps us save and thanks to this program we do not have to pay for a larger amount of storage.
Amazon Drive Cloud has the advantage of being backed by one of the companies that has had the highest growth in recent years: Amazon. That gives us security and has been the main reason for us to trust this product. We believe that the security systems of this company are good enough to be quiet while our files are stored on their servers.

Amazon Cloud drive is not used by the entire department or company. I have been personally using it for a while. I use it as a secondary backup other than OneDrive. Some of the files that I feel are important, like official documents that do not change with time are uploaded to Amazon Cloud Drive.
  • Using amazon cloud drive, it is easy to select and upload files and folders as a whole. There is a good desktop interface that helps me select the folders that I need and then all the content of the folder can be uploaded.
  • The availability of a mobile app makes it easier to use the app from anywhere. This comes in handy when I'm in need of any documents and I do not have access to my laptop.
  • The download option present in the Amazon Cloud desktop interface is very useful. Usually in other cloud services like Google Drive, if I have to download a folder, the contents of the folder will be zipped when I receive it. However, with Amazon Cloud Drive, I can select the folder and choose the destination, and the folder along with its contents will be downloaded instead of a zip file.
  • There is no sync option present. If it was present, I could have substituted Amazon Cloud for OneDrive. I would have to reupload the new files every time I make a change.
  • The pricing for the service is too high. It doesn't stand as a long term solution to my needs. For example, I get 5GB storage for free from OneDrive, and if I need more, it would only cost me USD 2 for a month to get 50 GB of storage with OneDrive. In Amazon Cloud drive, I have to pay USD 12 per year and I get only 5 GB of files even though it allows unlimited photos.
  • Google Photos provides free unlimited photos in the cloud whereas Amazon Cloud Drive requires USD 12 a year for unlimited photos. Moreover, Google Photos can sync with the phone whereas Amazon Cloud Drive requires manual effort to upload new photos.
Amazon Cloud Drive would be well suited for long term storage but not good for daily use. This is because there is presently no sync option that I could find. Other services like Google Cloud and Microsoft OneDrive could be used to substitute this service for cheaper. One option that I could find with Amazon Cloud that I didn't see with other providers is the option to limit the bandwidth used by the app.

  • There are other options present that can provide cheaper plans for the same services.
  • The number of features that are present is less when compared to its competitors.
  • When being used in an office environment, there is a need for collaboration. Amazon Cloud drive has limited options for collaborating.
Amazon Cloud drive stacks up poorly against the other products with less number of options and features while having costlier plans. I would not substitute any of the other products with Amazon Cloud drive as it still has a long way to go when it comes to better features and pricing.
